SARAH
CHENOWETH

Sarah has a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from the University of Kansas, a Master’s Degree in Communication from Pittsburg State University, and a Master’s Degree in English, also from PSU.

 

She grew up in Baxter Springs, Kansas and spent most of her life living in Pittsburg, Kansas.  During her time in Pittsburg, Sarah co-owned a successful recycling business and was very active in the community.  She was a member of the local Chamber of Commerce and served on several non-profit boards.

 

In 2017, Sarah was elected to the Pittsburg City Commission where she served a two-year term.  During that time, she helped start Pittsburg’s Sustainability Advisory Committee and supported several important economic and downtown development projects. 

Sarah has a diverse background which has included working for a congressional campaign, for the League of Kansas Municipalities, as an adjunct college instructor, a librarian, as staff for a domestic violence shelter, a supervisor at a farm winery, and as a liaison between local farmers and food banks.

 

Now a resident of Lawrence, Sarah has served on City and County advisory boards and has a passion for public policy and for all aspects of local government.
